Our history

The area was once home to the Hinckley Union Workhouse, constructed in 1838. Most of the original workhouse buildings were demolished around 1950, with only the former infirmary and laundry blocks surviving.

built in 1990, Ashby Court in Hinckley is a modern complex of 50 self-contained apartments built on Ashby Road for people aged 55 and over, offering retirement living options with services and amenities like a dining room, social activities, and secure entry systems.

Ashby Court is a private limited company with an ethos of ‘Owned by you, Run by you, For you.’ Our owners are at the heart of our community here at Ashby Court which is why we have an elected board of 5 members (3 of which are owners here themselves) who go above and beyond to ensure our owners are heard and felt respected in their opinions.

Duty managers 

We have 5 duty managers here at Ashby Court who provide support for our owners 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our Duty Manager is the go-to manager should there be any issues from staff or our owners.

House Keeping

Our house keeping assistants are an integral part of Ashby court  and its day-to-day running. 

As standard each of our owners are provided with 1.5 hours of support per week with the option to purchase more when required.

Cooks 

We have 2 cooks here at Ashby Court who work tirelessly in our kitchen to ensure that our owners are provided with a nutritional 2 course lunch 7 days a week. 

They are also responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, menu planning, organizing food for various functions and completing any orders that are required to ensure our owners are always well fed.

Ashby court comprises of 50 spacious apartments 40 of which are 2 bedrooms, 9x 1-bedroom and 1x 3-bedroom apartments which are spread across our 3 floors.  

We also have a guest suite available for any family members who wish to come and stay. 

Each of our apartments are thoughtfully designed to accommodate our owners needs for both now and in the future. 


All of our apartments are equip with 2-way intercoms and pull cord alarms. Pendants are also available for extra piece of mind.
